Availability as a driver for the IoT: Components

In the past decade, the cost of sensors has dropped to about 50 % of the original price point. This has been driven by the cell phone industry, which has introduced a steadily increasing number of sensors in smartphones. This includes temperature sensors, accelerometers, gyro positioners, GPS location sensors, ambient light intensity sensors, and many more.

The Hybrid Testbeds of the future

More and more industrial products and productions are going through digitalization. This means there is a need for supplementing the physical tests with digital tests. In the end this should result in a test infrastructure that is a hybrid of physical and digital tests.

Digital Factory Mapping with FORCE Technology

The ability to translate digitalization of production into actual value is fundamental for all manufacturers whose competitive advantage is largely built on the performance of their production operations - short delivery times, high cost-efficiency, high-quality standards, high flexibility. But where to start? What are the “low-hanging fruits” and the long-term potentials? What is their actual business value?

Availability as a Driver for the IoT: Processing power

The processing power of super computers, cloud servers and ordinary computer processors are still following Moore’s law. This means that the transistor density in integrated circuits doubles every approximately two years. This results in a larger processing power being available for scientific research, but also for ordinary industrial and consumer applications for the IoT.

IEEE and ISO/IEC standards for IoT

FORCE Technology is actively involved in many standardization activities across many industries. ISO/IEC and IEEE has developed standards in this area and bring all security requirements to a single universal form. Standards provide people and organizations with a basis for a mutual understanding of the IoT. This ranges from standards for calibration of gas flow meters, over standards for compliance of wireless communication, to standards for IoT implementations and considerations.

We got the technology – we need the right matches!

Many of the informants, we talked to for our whitepaper, mentioned that it is a problem that the IoT ecosystem is very fragmented. This makes it very difficult for clients who want to build and implement an IoT system to get started and to navigate in the field.
