Ridango, a global provider for public transport solutions, sought an IoT solution that would enable passengers to pay for journeys using their credit or debit cards. The challenge was to create a system that could quickly verify the user's eligibility to pay, minimizing delay at entry points.
Proekspert AS developed an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud-based solution linking Ridango's existing ticketing system with the NETS system, Swedbank, and Oschadbank. The process, which adheres to Visa and Mastercard's mass transit payment rules, verifies the card's validity, calculates fare based on ticketing rules, and processes payment through the payment gateway.
The system gives Ridango a competitive edge, as its complexity makes it challenging for competitors to replicate. It can be upgraded modularly, allowing for easy implementation of improvements. Initially built for Estonia, the system has since been adapted for Sweden and Kiev, demonstrating its scalability and adaptability. Ridango’s solution was also awarded the best ticketing and payment system of 2023 at TTG2023.
