The big challenge of scaling industrial IoT and AI apps: data acquisition and integration

Omnio.net was a startup creating a middleware solution that made industrial equipment plug-n-play with IT systems. It handled all the tedious industrial communication like modbus, profibus and such, and even unified the output to a standardised model. As a result, data from all the different power meters, frequency converters and so on looked exactly the same, making it much easier to build applications and algorithms on top.

As founder and CEO I designed the product, handled sales and strategic partnerships with e.g. Microsoft, PTC, IBM and many others. I first hand supported our corporate customers in how to get value from IoT in industries such as water utility, agriculture, buildings and manufacturing. We uncovered the needs and jobs to be done and built the software to suit those needs, with a keen focus on value and usability. We also prioritized cybersecurity and quality highly and went through both ISO9001 and ISO27001 certifications in less than 6 months.

In 2022 Omnio.net was acquired by IBM.
